YHM → MFM: Ilumini’s Macau Send-Off Concert
Tuesday, August 18, 2026 | 7:30 p.m.
L.R. Wilson Concert Hall, McMaster University
Before Ilumini leaves for Macau, join us for one final performance here at home!
This August, Hamilton Children’s Choir’s Ilumini will represent Hamilton and Canada at the 2026 World Symposium on Choral Music in Macau, taking place August 23–28. Ilumini is one of just 11 choirs from around the world invited to perform at the Symposium and the only choir from the Americas.
At YHM → MFM, audiences will hear the same program Ilumini will take to Macau, featuring Canadian voices alongside music from Europe and Asia.
“We’ve packed a remarkable amount of the world into one concert. You’ll hear brilliant Canadian voices alongside music from Europe and Asia – the very programme we’ll carry with us to the World Symposium on Choral Music in Macau. The Symposium’s theme is Reimagining the Future, and that feels exactly right. Every rehearsal has asked us to imagine a little more boldly: new sounds, new languages, new ways of listening to one another.”
— Melanie Tellez, Artistic Director
This concert is a chance for our Hamilton community to hear what Ilumini has been working toward and help us give these young artists a great send-off before they take the international stage.
